In the last post I have shared the tutorial to make house boat model for school projects. As its  quite a lengthy process , I could only share about making of the boat. I this post sharing about how to make the house and fix it to the boat.
Already the boat is made with carton box, now cut the thermocol in the shapes shown below.
Then using fevicol attach the pieces to make it in the form of a cubicle:
Now to cut the left out of the carton box, in the form of a roof:
Then attach the roof to the thermocol cubicle:
To give the texture of the wood, take the ice cream sticks and attach to the walls of the house one by one.
Now paint the boat and the house with light brown color:
Now it is almost complete. Attach the house inside the boat:

Now the house boat is ready :)

You can use it for you kid's school project. If you have any other method of making the houseboat do share it. That will help many moms like you.

Now he is grown up doesn't need my help  :).

I get many emails regarding school projects, inquiring how to make models. Thought in in some of posts if I write about the tutorial to make some school projects and models, it may be helpful to some moms of school going kids.
In this post sharing about steps to make model of house-boat. As this is quite a long procedure, I will be sharing it in two consecutive posts.

These two posts are still having maximum hits. By this I can understand the struggle of a mom while making a model for school project :-). I get mails from such moms requesting to share about different tutorials which will help them to make school projects. One such mom had requested to share about making street light for making a model.

The street light model is ready . This can be used for making many models and school projects like a street, a model of town etc.

To change the color of the pole to your desired color, you can roll the color paper on the straw. This street light can be made into a working model by passing the wires through straw and connecting the bulb to a battery cell.

Another model of forest made by a creative Mom

I often receive mails from some readers, asking guidance about craft work.   Similar mail I had received from Meghna. She had read my post on  Model made for an exhibition in School .  She had to make a thick forest model for her son's science project .She had asked about how to make the mountains,  and I had replied her with instructions to make the mountain model. After that I had forgotten about that. Few days back I received a mail from Meghna with the photos of the thick forest model she made.
I thought it might be helpful to other moms also if they get similar projects. With Meghna's permission I'm sharing the photos of the model.
The model has come out really nice, it reflects a mother's dedication.
You will also agree with me seeing the below photos of the model.

 Closer view

Here are the instructions I shared with Meghna to make mountains:

For making mountains, use waste cloth.
Here are the steps:
  1.  Take the thermocol as base.
  2. Pierce some long and short sticks , keeping some distance between them.
  3. Cover the sticks with cloth.
  4.  Then apply thin paste of Plaster of Paris
  5.  Color that with brown and green color
  6. On that, you can place some small trees.
 Another method :
  1.  Make small pieces of thermocal
  2.  Place them in a form of heaps.
  3.   Cover them with paste of plaster of Paris. Then color it.
Sharing it through this post, it might be helpful to some other mom to make school projects.

Recently learnt, imitation jewelry making. Share about the same in the next post.

Until then,

Exhibition in School-This time model of houses

Again, exhibition in my son's school. This time teacher told him to make model of different types of houses. Though I like making the models, this time, I was reluctant, because of two reasons. First one was, we had planned to visit our native, to attend a marriage, second, this model making requires lots of my time always :-). I informed his teacher, that he could not take part in exhibition this time, due to first reason.( Anyhow, any parent cannot tell the second reason  :-) But she didn't agree and told us at least to keep the model in the exhibition.
So went ahead making this model. 3-4 days of work, finally resulted something like this:

I made models of different types of houses, something to depict evolution of house and some special kinds of houses.
It starts from cave; I made this using Plaster Of Paris.

Then a mud house; again made with Plaster Of Paris

Then Villa, Bungalow and Apartments:

(Here I used , some readymade plastic models.)

And some special types of houses ;
Igloo:
Tent house
Boat house

This time my son helped me lot. Next time, he might not need my help, I think.
How fast the kids grow up! :-)

But as I said, he could not attend the exhibition to present this. We just kept the model in exhibition with his name plate on that: PRATARDAN   :-)

Model made for an exhibition in School

Last year my son participated in school exhibition. This is a model made for that school exhibition. The subject was deforestation.

I used thermocol  , plaster of Paris to make the base and the falls, and sola wood and strings inside the electric wire to make the trees. I also used some plastic trees and animals.

It took me 15 days to make this model. Everyday after coming from office, I used to work on this.

Though my son did not get any prize for this, everybody in the exhibition appreciated this. My son was very happy. What else I wanted, ultimately his happiness!!!
