Peacock design - Carved on stone

This is another design of peacock .   I captured this picture in the campus of Chitrakala Parishad , Bangalore.
The peacock is carved on a soft stone.
Looks very beautiful, and the feathers are also carved very beautifully.
The carvings are very simple, but still looks very elegant and looks like white peacock. You can see some more peacock designs , about which I have already shared.

Coming up with many arty crafty stories and designs,

Screen printing on plain cotton saree

It had been a year that I could not work on screen printing. I have many beautiful designs of screen. Recently  I had designed a screen printing on a saree, which I had shared in the post : Screen printing on saree after years.
Yesterday worked on another saree. This was also a plain cotton saree in purple color, with very beautiful stripe border in Yellow and Maroon. To design on sarees with plain border is quite easy. Any motif can be used  to design the saree. So I used motif of peacock design along the border :

Here is the closer view of the motif:

To  match the border I printed maroon and yellow paisley motifs.
The pallu has lines of gold zaree, so printed small peacock motifs on that:
I'm planning design many sarees, and next project is designing the blouse for this dakai jamdani saree with Kamal embroidery.

Soon will share about the same.
Until then,

I had designed a saree using glitter paint  and a dress with peacock design.  I love to work for some more sarees with peacock designs. Almost all forms of Indian arts and crafts are influenced by peacock designs, may be its Rangoli, embroidery designs, jewel designs, mehandi designs, wood work or carvings in temples. Let me start the series of posts on peacock design with this carving on the walls  Mahabodhi temple of Bodhgaya.

On the outer walls of Mahabodhi temple  there is carvings of Buddha is different meditation postures. Below that the design of two peacocks heading each other is carved.
In another carving the design is  different , the two peacocks are holding a bead strand together.

Both have very beautiful peacock designs.I'm planning to use in my next project of embroidery. Will share the designs once it is completed. I feel it can be used in Rangolis and paintings too. What do you opine?

I will share many more peacock designs in coming posts, in the section: Mayuri

Saree with Peacock Design in Glitter Painting

On this saree I've used Glitter painting. Attached an off Gold color lace on the border, used peacock shaped kundans and Peacock Design on the Pallu.
Closer view of the border:

Peacock shaped Kundan and extended the peacock feather design with Blue and Gold color glitter paints.

I liked the Peacock shaped Kundans. Aren't they pretty?

The pallu  with big Peacock Design

I  got this design from Screen printing class. Got it enlarged. It was really very tedious task to transfer the design.

Now, not able to decide on color of the blouse, Peacock blue or Off Gold?

This is a plain black saree with Golden Yellow border. The owner of this saree likes very simple designs. So printed this with Peacock and Paisley designs , in Green and Gold color. Attached Green and red kundans

Printed the Pallu with small Paisley motifs.

Here is the closer view of the peacock and paisley motifs. I always like Peacock and Paisley motifs. These give a traditional look.
Aren't  these very beautiful?

In between completed a quilt with cartoon painting on it.
Next post will have very interesting story behind the making of the quilt,

Screen printing on a silk saree

I've used screen printing to make over ,many old sarees. This is a new silk saree, on which I used screen printing.

This is my sister's saree. When I saw this saree, I liked it very much . Some creative idea flashed in my mind. When I told her about my idea, her first reaction was big "Noooooo!". :-) Expected! Because already I had spoilt two sarees of her.:-) I begged in front of her, but she was reluctant. I promised her that if I spoil this saree, I would buy her two srees. Then unwillingly, she gave this saree. Still she had doubts!

While printing on this saree, I took utmost care, as if its saree of any Goddess and if its spoilt I would  be cursed by the Goddess :-)
The result is below :

I used one of my favourite Peacock motifs. I have already used this motif to design a dress. In between printed peacock feather motif designs.

And on the Pallu again Peacock feather motif design.

Here is the closer look of the peacock motif

My sister is happy to see this. She is planning to add some Kundans on this. She tried to find out mistakes, so that she could get two sarees from me. But could not :-)

Designing a "Tie and Dye" saree with lace and embroidered motifs. Hope will be completed by next weekend. share that in the coming post,

Till then,

Tit for tat

Everyone was waiting for her arrival.  My son could not wait, he went to airport to receive her . He was the one who was missing her a lot. We all too.
She arrived , brought lots of happiness, joy and lots of gifts to everyone. How fast the 15 days passed! We roamed, shopped, chatted ,giggled and also enjoyed gossips.

Who  is this? I'm telling about my sister in law, who stays in Delhi. She came here after 2 years. Rather than  sister in law, she is my friend. We had lovely moments together. I loved all the gifts she brought for me.
Who doesn't like these lovely gifts?
A chocolate box, I liked the chocolates as well as the decoration of the box.

And this dress, I liked the neck design, with crystals attached.
Some kurtis( tops) and a saree

I liked this one the most , a shawl with embroidery on it.
She always likes the dresses I design. I thought this time, I will design something unique for her. As Tit for tat, whatever she has brought for me :-). She had seen the photos of sarees, which I had screen printed. So thought, design a dress with screen printing. My first choice is always blue. This time selected light blue and dark blue combination. Attached a lace, and printed floral vine motifs on the border and floral motifs inside. Attached the kunadan too. She liked this color combination.

This is another top I designed.

Selected, Khadi silk in Green color.  Used, emboss painting for screen printing. She liked the big Peacock motif. She also suggested me to use this peacock motif to design my sister's saree. Soon I will share that also.
This is the one I liked the most. This is again on Khadi silk, I did not use screen printing. I had a lace, which had bought from an exhibition. The lace has Dandiya dance design, embroidered on it. I attached that on the border. Luckily , I had, similar motifs to match the lace. So here is the dress.

I have some more lace left over, so planning to design a dress for myself.
When can I complete that? Don't know :-(
I liked the Orange dress the most. Even my sister in law liked it.
Which is the one, do you like the most?
