Cotton saree with Screen printing

This is a Magenta cotton Saree with Green border.
Screen printed with big motifs of "Dancing Lady", along the border. I have not used any other motifs as I wanted the dancing lady motif to be prominent.

Raksha Bandhan- Bondage between brother and sister-Quilled Rakhis

Raksha Bandhan- the occasion to  celebrate the bondage between sister and brother. 

The bond of love and affection between brother and sister, is one of the noblest human emotions. I don't think, any sister would forget the sweet moments spent with her brother. I still remember, while going to school,  how my brother was to hold my hands and take me to school. During rainy season, he used to take utter care that, I should not get wet in rain, how my brothers pampered me during my childhood,how my brothers supported during bad period of my life...

Oh, if I go on telling, this will be endless.

 Every year, for Raksha Bhandhan , I decided to make handmade Rakhees to send it to my brothers, but could not. 

This year, at last my wish came true. So ,sending handmade Rakhis to my lovely brothers and cousins. Here are the quilled rakhis.

These are with floral design:

This is a cute Teddy Bear!

And all the Rakhees are ready with the cards to get posted.

 May be these are made of colourful papers, but lots of wishes and love wrapped in each of these.Hope my brothers and cousins like these Rakhees.

Kumkuma Bharanis made from Seashells

I have some Kumakuma Bharanis , made from Seashells. Sharing about those in this post.
This one made of white shell , with conical lid also made of shell.

Screen printing with double color

This is the first time I tried screen printing with double colour. This is again my Attige's (Bhabhi/Sister in law) saree. Very nice , Mysore silk. The colour of the saree is Purple and that of border is Green, but somehow the photos are not showing the exact colour. So used light Purple, light Green and Golden colour combination.
The starting of the saree is printed with flower motifs,

And straight vine designs on the fleets.

The closer view of the flower. Here I've used light Purple colour for flowers and Green colour for leaves.And attached small kundans on the flower.

Tipu Sultan Palace - Bangalore

Most of the time, we neglect the monuments which are in the city or place where we reside. Though I wished to visit Tipu Palace,  many times, I could not. My niece who came here during summer vacation , is also interested in visiting old monuments. So we visited, Tipu Palace.
In actual sense, this is not a big palace. Tipu Sultan( Ruler of Mysore), used to address his people here.
This is how it looks from the entrance :

The Palace is built with wooden pillars and arches.

Pillars are very nicely carved:

It has  steps which leads to first floor:

The walls and ceilings are beautifully painted with flower and vine designs. This resembles Mughal design.

 

 

And finally , the balcony, from where King used to address his people:

Inside the Palace, few weapons and belongings of Tipu Sultan are kept. I could click Tipu's portrait :

We visited Bangalore Palace also.

Theme Saree- At last my Deepavali saree is designed

This is what happens with me! For any occasion I wish to design a saree or dress, for that occasion, it will not be completed :-(. This is the saree, I wanted to design and wear on last Deepavali. But as usual could not.
It has screen printing, machine embroidery and Kalamkari patch work on it.
The cloth and the lace I bought are here:

The cloth is fine crepe. Liked the lace,it has unique design!Isn't it?

I wanted to design the saree with a theme. As the lace has design of pots on that, decided paint it with" lady bringing water in pot" design. In some handicraft shop I got Kalmakari and embroiderd patches of lady holding water pot. I had screen with motif of " lady holding pot" , design. Used all of these and the final outcome is below.

Stitched  both the laces  along the border and screen printed with the lady holding the pot design along it.And also attached antique Gold color chamkis in between.

The blouse is Khadi silk.

As it has earthy  color , I thought of Terracotta jewellery , but could not get proper one. So going ahead with Silver Jewellery with brown stones:

I don't have a mannequin to display the Saree. Trying to display it on the floor :-)

I've named this as theme Saree, since complete Saree is designed on a theme. This is liked by some of my friends, some of them have asked me to design theme Sarees for them.  Hope to design some more theme sarees. Hope they don't have to wait long for that!  :-)
