Mini craft iron- A review

I had learnt sewing, from my mother. She used to stitch clothes for us. I  learnt sewing watching my mother sewing. After my studies I learnt it from a professional tailor. I used to stitch dresses, salwar suit for myself . Now due to lack of time I give it to professional tailors.

Still I design saree , do applique work and make quilts. The people who sew understand the importance of iron in sewing. In many stages of sewing , ironing is required. It is really tedious to get up frequently from the sewing seat and iron the cloth , and sew. I always felt a small iron box is required while sewing, especially quilt. Though I bought one from an online store, that was not comfortable. My search ended for a convenient craft iron  , when my sister in law got a mini craft iron from US.

This is very small, and convenient. It can be kept on the sewing table while sewing. It has a long electric cord. It can be used , if  electric plug is quite away from sewing table. It works for 110v and 220 v. So no transformer is required.

Its length is 4 inches and the handle also very convenient. The small indicator bulb inside the iron.

And has a non stick coating, because of which the cloths and threads do not  get stuck to the iron.

I use it almost all sewing projects, like attaching borders to sarees, applique work, quilting etc.

Only drawback I have encountered is, the cord comes out quite often. So whenever I use the iron, I unplug it after heating and use.

For making quilts, dolls' dresses, applique work etc I feel it is better to use these kind of iron, for better result and the finishing of the product will be good. It might not work for thick cloths( like thicker than jeans cloths.) I don't  know , about its usage in paper craft, as I haven't used it while working with paper craft.

Love , laugh and live the life to the fullest,

  1. Hey thanks for sharing. This is so convenient.

A few years back, I came across a small fold-able mini iron, which was very convenient to carry around since I was travelling so much. I could not buy it.
I think one is now available online. But how is its performance, I have no idea.
